Images and files

Text, images and files—together in one history.

Preview images, expand groups of copied files and keep the source context that makes each item easy to recognise.

A copied image opens in preview, then a three-file clip expands to show its individual file references.

See images at a useful size

Open a copied image preview without leaving cliiip.

Keep copied files together

Expand a multi-file clip to see each original file in the group.

References, not duplicate files

cliiip remembers where copied files are; it doesn’t duplicate them. The originals must remain available.

Privacy and control

Your clipboard stays on your Mac. Your rules decide what enters it.

cliiip processes history locally, with no account, cloud sync or analytics. Exclude apps, review recognised sensitive items and decide how much history to keep.

Keep selected apps out of history

Exclude password managers, finance apps or any other app you don’t want cliiip to record.

Review recognised sensitive items separately

Recognised higher-risk items stay outside everyday history until you keep or delete them.

Choose how long history stays

Keep history in memory only, or store it locally between launches with encryption and age or item limits.

Pattern matching can miss sensitive content. Exclude any app whose clipboard contents should never be saved.

Rules for individual apps

Give each app its own rules.

Choose whether cliiip records from an app, applies extra safeguards or clears its content quickly.

Example profile

  • Recording disabled for this app
  • Sensitive Mode and redaction enabled
  • Captured content cleared after 30 seconds

Straight answers

Questions before you download.

Does my clipboard history leave my Mac?

No. cliiip processes clipboard history locally and does not provide cloud clipboard sync.

Can I save only selected items?

Yes. Choose Dedicated Capture and use your configured shortcut only for the selections you want cliiip to remember.

Does cliiip require Accessibility or Input Monitoring?

No—not for ordinary history, search or Copy. Dedicated Capture and optional One-Action Paste can ask for macOS Post Events permission after you trigger them; macOS displays this under Accessibility settings. cliiip does not use Input Monitoring for these features.

What happens when I copy images or files?

cliiip can keep image previews and references to copied files. It does not duplicate or back up the originals, so they must remain available.
