Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of the cliiip website and macOS app.

Last updated: August 12, 2026

1. Acceptance

By using the cliiip website or app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use cliiip.

cliiip is operated by HUMANE AI LTD, registered in England and Wales under company number 14815105.

2. What cliiip does

cliiip is a macOS clipboard history app. It can record clipboard items locally, search history, pin clips, capture available non-text items, redact sensitive content, hold recognised high-risk clips for protected review, apply app-specific profiles, and optionally persist history locally with encryption.

cliiip does not provide a cloud clipboard account or cloud clipboard sync.

3. Licence and platform terms

cliiip is licensed, not sold. Subject to these Terms and any applicable distribution terms, you may use the app on devices you own or control.

If you install cliiip through Apple channels, Apple's applicable terms, including the Apple Media Services Terms and any Apple standard licence terms that apply to the download, may also govern your use.

4. Purchase, pricing and refunds

cliiip is offered as a one-time purchase. The price, currency and any applicable tax are shown before purchase in the relevant App Store storefront. Purchases and refunds are also governed by the terms of the platform used for that transaction.

5. Consumer rights

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes rights you have under laws that cannot be limited or excluded, including applicable consumer rights for digital content.

6. Your responsibilities

  • Use cliiip only in compliance with applicable law and these Terms.
  • Do not use cliiip to store or process material you are not allowed to handle.
  • Review your app settings before enabling capture for sensitive workflows.
  • Keep encrypted export passphrases secure. We cannot recover lost passphrases.
  • Maintain your own backups where your workflow requires them.

7. Permissions and local controls

Clipboard history is opt-in and newer macOS versions may ask before allowing background clipboard reads. A dedicated capture shortcut can be configured inside cliiip; recognising that modifier-only or modifier-plus-key shortcut does not require keyboard monitoring permission, while sending Command-C on deliberate invocation requires Post Events access. One-Action Paste is an optional app-wide assistive feature for people with motor, dexterity, or cognitive disabilities and uses the same Post Events permission state to send Command-V after you choose a clip. macOS displays that control under Accessibility. cliiip does not inspect or control other apps' interface elements, globally monitor ordinary keyboard input, or request Input Monitoring to recognise the shortcut. You can change these permissions in System Settings, and the rest of cliiip remains usable without Post Events access.

8. Product limitations

Redaction, sensitive mode, excluded apps, source-app profiles, and protected review are safeguards, not guarantees. They may miss sensitive content, flag false positives, or behave differently depending on app settings, enabled rules, source attribution, clipboard content type, permissions, and macOS behaviour.

Rich clipboard capture may store image data and file references or bookmarks locally. File history may depend on the original file remaining available and readable. cliiip should not be treated as a durable backup of copied files.

Dedicated synthetic Command-C capture and optional assistive One-Action Paste require Post Events access and may not work uniformly in every app. Without access, ordinary clipboard history and copy actions remain available, and One-Action Paste copies the selected clip instead.

9. Acceptable use of the website

You agree not to:

  • Attempt unauthorised access to systems, data, or private repositories.
  • Interfere with website security or availability.
  • Use automated traffic to overload or abuse the website.

10. Website submissions

The website does not include public submission forms. Do not attempt to send secrets, passwords, tokens, confidential documents, regulated data, private clipboard content, or other confidential information through the website.

11. Intellectual property

cliiip, including the app, website, branding, screenshots, copy, and documentation, is owned by the operator of cliiip or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, sell, distribute, reverse engineer, or create derivative works except where law expressly permits it.

12. Platform terms

App distribution may also be subject to Apple terms if you install cliiip through Apple channels.

13. No professional advice

cliiip can help identify, redact, separate recognised high-risk items for review, and organise clipboard content, but it is not legal, security, compliance, or data-loss-prevention advice. You remain responsible for deciding what information may be copied, stored, exported, shared, or deleted in your environment.

14. Disclaimers

cliiip is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that cliiip will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every sensitive value will be detected by redaction or protected review.

15. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Subject to the paragraph above, to the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, consequential, special, incidental, exemplary, or punitive losses, including loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, data, or business opportunity.

16. Termination

We may suspend or block access to website features if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms, abused the service, or created a security risk.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction, unless mandatory consumer law in your country of residence provides otherwise.
